When it comes to digital assets, SEC Chairman Gary Gensler prefers to stay on the sidelines. Despite the recent surge in the crypto markets, Gensler has never owned any Bitcoin or any other digital asset and doesn’t even have a digital wallet. He has stated that crypto is highly speculative and that he chooses only to invest in traditional assets. His stance is popular with the Washington elites, and since Gensler testimony to Congress on April 18, the crypto markets have crashed over 10 percent. Ethereum is down 13%.
Is Gensler right to stay away or is he missing out on an opportunity of a lifetime? With so many people already diving into crypto, it’s an exciting time to be watching the markets. Is Gensler on the right side of the wrong side of history?
